What’s next?

I’m getting asked a lot about what’s next… my initial response is that’s up to you, where are you taking the information, knowledge, tools, methodology, how are you putting it into practice?

For me there is a good bit of work still to be done in integrating all of what happened during and in the lead into the first week of September, when Kate Raworth came to town.

The great thing is she had such a good time, she can’t wait to come back.

For me my next piece of work holding space, creating a container is for Culture Night 20th September 2024, Friday. Amazingly back to IMMA where my work evolves almost as an exclamation mark.

It was great to be working with Claudia Geratz again, she has established an amazing tribe of people around her monthly Climate Dinners. Bringing all sorts of people at different places, levers, situations all working towards an Ireland within our EU commitments by 2030.

20 September 2024

Thank you to IMMA for funding the Creative Climate Cafe.

During the event as dusk had moved into darkness a fox moved along the wall of the terraced garden very close to where we were sitting.

Thanks to all who came and I look forward to holding other spaces for connection and care.

Do you recall my blog post a love letter to bejewelled cobwebs from October last year, images and poem on spiderwebs. It was part of very creative procrastination prior to writing a letter to my future ancestors.

That work is now part of a film. My words and voice with others whom also wrote letters are woven as the sound over the moving images. Film maker Dónal Ó Céilleachair initiated the project and has woven his mastery and magic. The film, Seeding the future is being shown at Earth Rising today.

He will be introducing the screening, and talking about this evolving ecological aspect of his own work, alongside the WeALL Alliance as part of ‘The Art of the Wellbeing Economy – New Stories of Transformation’ salons that will take place on Sunday Sept. 22nd.

These salons will take place at 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the Matheson Creativity Hub.

The Art of the Wellbeing Economy @ Earth Rising IMMA

DESCRIPTION

It is time for a new story. The unfolding crises of poverty and the cost of living, of trust in our democracy, and of climate and biodiversity, mean that it is no longer viable to pursue social progress through the same methods.

The Wellbeing Economy Alliance Ireland Hub is a community of practice of over 40 artists, academics and activists exploring creative ways to design an economy that meets the needs of all within planetary boundaries.

This salon enables attendees to engage in new thought and dialogue, a spoken word performance and a screening of the film ‘Seeding The Future’, gaining insight into the wide-ranging interdisciplinary work of this dynamic community of practice
