How much carbon is your digital footprint using?

An analogy in college we shot on 35ml film typically 24 or 36 images. You might get 2 extra frames if you loaded the film smartly. When out taking photos you’d find your shot and take an exposure either side of it, similarly for studio work although that tended to be 120ml film with only 12 exposures. I worked with negative and slide film up until the early 2000. I was careful not to waste film. I did not shot crappy photos or if I did I’d never print them let alone share them. That’s was the training, it was what I could afford, it was an ethos; make the click count.

But where is my behavior now?

How much digital waste do I generate? Do I delete unwanted images? Do I delete unwanted emails? How much of my unedited crap is just consuming digital space? Should n’t I clean it up? If I do does it free up that space, those resources?

Should I stop using that energy that’s not required?

Hell yeah!

Digital is such a free for all, have you ever thought about it?

“shoot bursts one of them is bound to be a good shot”

it’s a false promise and a crap construct that wastes resources.

However there I go posting stories on Instagram and tapping into convos on WhatsApp. Even this blog post.

So yep I’ve started reducing my inbox, questioning my digital footprint & online usage.

#EDIT seems to be a big theme for me right now.
